I bought a whole new gaming PC. Now, as I have play of games for a long time, I decided to completely build a new of. So I wanted to switch from AMD to Intel. I bought a combo, Msi z97 gaming 5, Intel i7 Devils canyon quad core, and a Msi Radeon R9 390. I bought the notuca air cooler and ram and power supply. I have 16gb of ram. Running only the one card. As I don't try to over lock and usually only play story games on it. So I can get by not running everything on ultra. Problem is, when this machine starts playing a game...for instance Fallout 4. I bought it because I like to play console vanilla, and PC modded. I could tell running the game on high it was running hot.bso I added more fans and even opened the case to see if it needed more airflow. Gamed Fallout 4 for 7 or 8 hours went to sleep. Then decided f$&k it and wanted to try more games thinking I fixed the issue. It was fine for about 45 mins. Then the screen went blank and unresponsive. All the lights, fans were still running but the chisel cards fans went off. So I figured it was just overheating. So I put the of next to a window and bought a window Ac to blow cold air. Dramatically lowered temps and had no issues. Today I bought Quantum Break and didn't check settings. About 15 mins in computer froze. So restarted and started to play again, this time it went blank screen again. I'm at a loss, my old rig ran almost every game fine with no issues. I am just at a loss. I tried asking for advice on this board when I was building the PC but everyone thought I was trolling. I really need help, have no clue what to do.

What type of i7 CPU and Noctua cooler exactly did you buy? I don't need the serial number, just the specific name please. Certain Noctua coolers are bound to work better than others. I would check to see if your cooler is mounted correctly, and check to see if your fans are positioned the correct direction.

one issue is the 390 runs real hot and it a power eater. you need a min 650w power supply for it and it has to be a good unit. i would use hardware info 64 bit set it to logging and sensor see if your 12v rail is holding. If you can see if someone has another gpu (nvidia) uses less power see if the pc still locks up with a gpu that uses less power.

Intel I7 4790K 4.0ghz
Corsair Vengeance 16gb 1866mhz
MSI z97 Gaming 5
MSI R9 390x 8gb
3 Kingston 120gb SSD
Noctua D15 CPU cooler
NZXT Phantom 410 Case

This is my setup, downloaded that program you suggested. Not sure how to use it though. Going to youtube it later. Plus I swapped my power supply to an Antec HGC-900.

havent played with it yet.
