hey all I'm looking to get a new display and a new gpu upgrade but need a bit of help with it all and I have a few questions. gpu wise either an EVGA 980ti,Zotak amp extream 980ti or wait for the furry X. For displays I was looking at a Samsung UE40JU6400,Panasonic TX-40AX630E or settle with any 1080p tv. from what i can find online in various forums the 2 tvs will output 4k@60hz 4:4:4 Chroma and support HDMI 2.0 but what I'm concerned about is the possibility to run games at a lower res of 1440p or 1080p@60hz and still have a good picture on the screen because I will only be able to get 1 gpu at the moment but would SLI for the future and like to have the option to run them lower then 4k so i can get 60fps on ultra. the other thing is as cards go. the zotak amp extream looks prity big would I be able to sli this with my current board? ASUS Sabertooth z77 and if not im wondering if 1 would be enough to game at 4k close to 60fps since the overclock on it is very high. thanks.

Solution
For some time, I researched 40" 4k displays suitable for use as a monitor.
They all seemed wanting in some fashion. 60fps capability, full chroma ...
Finally, I found the Philips BDM4065UC. It was sold early in Europe and not in the US.
Eventually, I bought one shipped directly from Korea.

It arrived within a week and is flawless. Perhaps the only negative is that the onboard menu is in Korean and I have yet to find how to change that.

A GTX780 delivered 45-60 fps for civilization.
I bought a EVGA GTX980ti SC with the classic blower cooler. All runs at the 60fps cap. Skyrim does too.

I am a happy camper with that combo.

If you want sli, I highly suggest a blower cooler that gets air directly out of your case.

Solution
I researched this some time ago, so details are fuzzy.
As I recall, 4k TV units did not have displayport connections so the hdmi capability at 4k resolution was limited to 30hz.
The TV units had hdmi 1.4, and no displayport connections.
It takes hdmi 2.0 or displayport 1.2 for full functionality.
There is also a SEIKI PRO 39" monitor that looks similar to the Phillips.
Whatever, do due diligence researching the issue for any TV to be used as a 4k pc monitor.
