I bought an FX 8350 Black edition a few months back, and found out that my MOBO was a micro ATX and didn't have the proper wattage to support the 8350. I just went back to my old 6100 for the time being, and haven't had any problems since. But now I want to get my money's worth. Only problem, is the case I have may not be large enough for a full sized AM3+ MOBO. Anyone know of any Micro ATX boards with an AM3+ socket that can handle a CPU at 125W? Or do I have to just look into getting a bigger case with a full sized board? Any recommendations? I keep reading things about boards but I've never seen more conflicting information. One board will have 4/5 eggs on Newegg, and 10 people will say it was DOA or stopped working after a month. I realize thats a risk with buying PC parts. But, was hoping to find a decent consensus to help with my problem. Also, I'd like to use the same RAM. But I bought this PC pre-built and have been slowly adding parts to it. Don't really know exactly what I have as RAM. I do know its 8 gigs of Dual Channel DDR3 with a DRAM Frequency of 669.6MHz and a NB Frequency of 2008.8MHz. Hope someone can help, Thanks.

My current board is an Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2. The one I'm looking into getting is the BIOSTAR TA970 Ver 5.3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138372&cm_re=biostar_ta970-_-13-138-372-_-Product

Theres a link to it on Newegg. The case I couldn't give you an accurate model number sadly. I bought this PC pre-built 4 years ago from Best buy and have been slowly adding in new parts. The case I'm going to buy is the Coolermaster HAF 912: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2F84D68987&cm_re=HAF-_-11-119-233-_-Product

There's a link to it as well. Like I said, I have and FX-8350 Black edition thats going in the new board. GPU is an NVidia GTX 960. Also, unsure of the exact brand or name of my RAM, but the specs are posted above in the original post.

Thanks

Here's the essential problem: Unless one came out that I'm not aware of, there's no micro-ATX motherboard with 8+2 power phases. The Biostar is a 4+1 and even if it's technically supported, you can run into trouble at load with a 125W TDP CPU. And truth be told, it's very hard for me to recommend you getting a new case so that you can get a new motherboard so that you can run a CPU on such an aging platform. I think you'd be better off using your 6100 for now, selling the 8350, and with the money from that and from what you wouldn't spend on a motherboard, to save up for an updated platform when you can evaluate the relative strengths of Intel and Ryzen in a couple of months.
