I recently received a used Dell OptiPlex 790 PC from my nephew, who won the PC at a work auction. His employer has uninstalled the Windows OS and most likely wiped the hard drive clean.
The PC came with an AMD Radeon Graphics Card already installed in one of the PCIE slots, but a VGA Monitor Output to Graphic Cards Input Port Connection adapter cable was not included. Without the adapter cable, I cannot install a Windows OS or view it's progress without a monitor.
I haven't been able to find the name or correct VGA Monitor Output to Graphics Card Input Port adapter connection cable anywhere. Does anyone know the name of this VGA Monitor adapter cable that would connect to the type of Graphics Card input Port shown in the following image of the Input Port of the installed Graphics Card? https://i.imgsafe.org/f6/f6e8a49d3d.jpeg
None of the VGA adaptor cables I've looked at in stores or online seem to have, or match the Graphics Card pin pattern of the input port connection of the Graphics Card installed in this PC. I purchased a DVI-A to VGA adapter, but the Graphics Card connection was wrong.
Also, and this is a dumb question, but does the VGA adapter cable have to somehow be connected to the Input Port of the Graphics Card or could I bypass that connection and connect a VGA to HDMI adapter cable to the Display Port?
One more dumb question. Don't PC's all come with an internal Graphics Card? Couldn't I just remove the AMD Radeon Graphics Card completely and connect the Monitors VGA cable to the VGA Input Port so that the monitor works?
What's the purpose of these PCI/PCIE slot Graphics Cards? Are they meant for Gamers? For watching crisp looking movies or videos? To allow you to connect two monitors up at the same time?
I'd appreciate any help on what type of VGA Monitor adapter cable I would need, as I've noticed many of these Graphics Cards have different pin pattern Input Port Connections..
