I've got a 'gaming pc' which has lasted me a couple of years but i want to upgrade, The only problem is i don't know what to upgrade to get maximum efficiency out of my money (£150-200) I've heard of the term bottle necking and am trying to avoid doing it. I will list specs of pc i know at the moment and any help is really appreciated:

Processor: AMD FX 4170 4.2GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3
Memory: 8GB Kingston DDR3 1333MHz
Graphics Card: MSI Radeon HD 7770 1GB (R7770-PMD1GD5)
Hard Disk Drive: 2TB Seagate 7200.14 ST2000DM001
CPU Cooler: Reference AMD FX 4170 heatsink
Case: Cooler Master Elite 310 w/ Side Panel Window
Power Supply: Artic MPS550 550W
Optical Drive: 24x Optiarc AD-7280S
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit

i feel like processor and heat sink need upgrading but im pretty clueless ahah :)

Solution
Both your CPU, and GPU are in need of an upgrade. But first off, you need to get rid of that low quality tier 5, PSU, before it dies and takes your system with it. Go with an XFX 550w. They are a good quality tier 2 unit. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£49.98 @ Novatech)
Total: £49.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

thank you does this make a huge difference to performance or temp ? and where could i get this installed

do you think my processor is fine not a hard core gamer, and could i use same heat sink if i upgraded in future ?

Power supply is the most important part of your system, and should never be cheaped out on. It can affect performance, as low quality units do not properly deliver power. Also the whole can kill your system thing. PSU's are easy to install, but any shop can do it, if you do not feel comfortable with it.

thanks for all the help what processor do u recommend and is it needed yet or focus on heat sink /
