Need help! GTX 770 keeps crashing.

So, I'm having a huge problem with my Gigabyte OC 2x Windforce GTX 770. I've had my PC for about a month now and everything was working fine. Now, I'm constantly getting driver crashes (doesn't matter if I rollback, it's happening with all the 320 drivers I try.) Sometimes they'll recover, but eventually my monitor will go lose it's HDMI signal and display anything, even though the PC still remains on. This is mostly happening when I try to play any game, but sometimes it even occurs when I'm just browsing websites. It will happen right away when I try to open games now.

Nothing is overheating, and I'm really dumbstruck as to what is causing this. Previously I had some crashes (would always recover) when I started playing WoW about one week ago on this, but I just assumed it wasn't an issue since the 320 drivers have been iffy. I haven't touched the PC since I played WoW that one week ago until now, since I was away on a trip.

8GB Ram
Gigabyte OC 2x Windforce GTX 770
650 Watt Gold Certified PSU
Windows 7 64 Bit

If you can connect the PC directly to the wall, it does not hurt either.

Whelp, I just had a bunch of crashes even with the TV off so that's obviously not the issue... So I did what was necessary, even though I loathe it, and opened up my PC and took out the GPU. The PCI-E slot seemed fine, and the part of the GPU that connected it wasn't bent or anything... What I did notice however, was that the 6-pin PCI-E connector that I had attached to the GPU was not fully attached to the PSU, so I pushed it back into place. You think that it could've been dislodged somehow and that was causing the issues? I'll test it out now I guess to see if I somehow resolved the issue.

Still crashing, if not worse... I don't really know what to do. I guess I'll just have to RMA this... I might try switching the PCI slots just to see if that's the issue and not card, even though my 2nd one is x8 instead of x16.

Okay.. I think I've determined that it's the GPU and not the Mobo. Still getting crashes even in the 2nd PCI slot, and I doubt both of them just happen to be damaged. I'm a little relieved I guess since replacing the GPU will be less hassle than the mobo, but still annoyed over this whole situation... I guess I'll just RMA the GPU and hope I get a new one soon.

Alright so I sent in the RMA form. But before I get the approval/denial of getting a replacement or repair job, is it safe to say this is the GPU and not the PCI slots/Mobo or my PSU?

The only way to be 100% sure is to try the card in another system.

It makes things more interesting with the cpu being the pci-e controller as well on modern Intel systems.

My only advice and most likely what Gigabyte will request is to try it on another system. my 670 RMA has come in and has been folding problem free for about 2 days(it gets some "breaks" to game). So in my case, my trouble shooting(tested temperature and clock speed limits[averages for games that did NOT crash had been much lower]) turned out to be bang on.

Nope all of them have laptops. Is it possible that my bios not being up to date could've caused this? I have version F3 and there's a newer one out (F7 I think) I never thought to check because I didn't know updates were pushed out so quickly. I just don't know why it would work fine for a while however if that was the case.

I have not seen this issue from a bios issue, but anything can happen(I have in no way seen all possible problems.).

If you have already got an RMA number, you have to act rather quick as most only work for about 30 days.

Yeah, I'm about to ship it today. I bought a replacement card (GT 640) and so far no crashes. As opposed to driver crashes happening even when I just logged into windows on the 770, I'm almost certain it's the GPU now. But will continue to test just to make sure.

It is a pain to nail it down sometimes. It is even worse if the problem is intermittent.

Yours sounds much worse than mine was. Mine would only do it in games that demanded enough to push the boost clocks higher.

So far the replacement has been perfect(I am currently running games with V-sync off just to add some extra load). With any luck the card will run for years now.

Galaxy while a little slow to reply sometimes got the replacement out to me very fast. I just wish they had a shipping location closer to home(Ontario, Canada and had to ship Illinois, USA) so the shipping would not cost so much..
