Greetings.

Recently built a new system. (please see specs below)

No matter what game i play, online or offline I am getting incredibly low FPS and very choppy. between 5 and 20 FPS. I have done tons of trouble shooting with Nvidia, they had me change a lot of things in the control panel, none of that worked. Talked to PNY who manufacted the card. They had me run benchmark tests. Which they said I had expected results.

I have done CPU benchmark and had zero issue's.

my CPU graphics is disabled via bios

All Drivers are up to date.

I am at a lose here. Anyone get this problem and actually find a fix??? I searched multiple forums and looks like several people had this issue but there has yet to be a posted fix. Somebody please help!

Oh and I dont have anything over clocked

EVGA Z87 FTW mobo
I7 4770k
Corsair Dominator 16 gigs ram at 1866
Corsair AX1200 PSU

Don't worry about a pic, just remove the HSF on the CPU. Clean it with 95% or better isopropyl alcohol. Apply new thermal compound and properly install the HSF. You should probably look up a video on how it is done to make sure you understand how to do it. I think they have done articles on this site on how it is done with pictures.

thermal throttling will cause all the issues you describe

install msi afterburner, turn on temp monitoring for the cpu and gpu play a game post back with max temps

Think i found my problem my idle CPU temps alone at IDLE are in the 90c range 🙁

how do i upload a picture here? :\

I have done this before many times. But this time I decided to go with corsairs stock thermal paste. I didn't think this will be the issue. But I am about to take it apart and reapply I will let you know how it goes

i have done them in the past with different CPU's. When i upgraded i went with intel mobo and processor. when i hooked up the hsf i just went with stock paste. I cant imagine that i am doing something wrong. I have done this many many times. but yes I might need to consult the hsf company now. but if that wasnt work wouldnt the whole cpu just fry out? I am mean its stable around 95c when i run games it doesnt go up any higher. I just put the system back together and still am getting 95c. wait it droped to 80's. I am going to let it run and see if it drops anymore andalso look up some video's while i am waiting. thanks for your help.

Oh mother shit!!!! There was a SATA power cable on the HSF i didnt have hooked up. I plugged it in thinking i had everything else plugged in and didnt need it (Specially since install instructions didnt really specify Thanks corsair!) But i feel dumb as hell now. first time i ever folly like this, plugged it in and now CPU temps are 35c :\

Glad it worked, but the only reason it was stable at 95C is because the CPU will throttle performance, until it hits a temp it won't fry. But the result is the extremely low performance. I'm surprised that fan made such a huge difference, but glad it did. Since you bought a K series CPU, it might be advisable to buy an good aftermarket HSF and overclock it.

Was it a Corsair All-in-one water cooler you are using to cool your CPU? If you forgot to plug the pump in, it would DEFINITELY reach 95C in the summer months.

glad you got it sorted
