Need help installing Windows 7

Hi, I have just built my custom gaming pc. When i turn it on it brings me to the bios. I set the bluray/dvd drive as the primary booting drive. I put in the windows 7 disc and now when i turn on my pc all it does it go back to the bios and I don't know what is going wrong. This is my first build and i have checked that every wire is where it should be. All I need to do is install windows 7 but my computer won't recognize the disc

I went into the bios, then i saved and reset. The pc turned on and it is at the american megatrends screen. I then put Windows 7 into the Optical Drive and i heard the disc spinning but then it stopped and nothing has happened. Is my optical drive able to read the dvds? It is an asus blu ray drive but i believe i saw that it could read dvds too.

I've tried leaving the dvd in while the pc was off and then turning it back on and the disc is still not being read. I have quit and restarted the computer from the bios with the disc in and when the computer was on the disc was still not being read. That's why I am confused, because i thought that if i were to put the disc in it should just be read but instead it spins for 5 seconds and then stops.

Can you test it with any other boot disk? A Linux LiveCD perhaps?

I don't have any access to that. All I have is the Windows 7 disc, a disc that came with the motherboard and i believe a disc that came with another part but I can not find it at the moment. I'm just wondering if it could possibly be that my optical drive is either defective or if it just isn't made to read dvds.

No, that drive should work. That's why I suggested another boot disk...any bootable CD/DVD..
It's either hardware, a setting in something (which doesn't seem to be the case), or a bad disk.
