I am trying to learning to OC I have a amd TB 700mhz with a asus a7v mobo. the mobo has both dips on it and the TB has the L7 open I checked befor buying it were do I set my changes for OC on the dips or in the BIOS or both and is there a guide some where as to the settings for the speed I want to OC it to any help would be nice Thanks

hey... i just oc'ed mt 800 tb @950 on an a7v

first, it's better to oc by the multiplier
It's locked so u have to unlock it by joining the L1 bridges, all of them by using a conductive pen, or just an hb pencil for a quick fix. (my multiplier is at 9.5)

Then, u can set the multiplier by the dipswitches.

Then you'll probably have to adjust the cpu core voltage, there are jumpers that you can change to do this. Just look in the manual.

Also u can oc by adjusting the fsb, either by the dipswitches or the setting in the bios. (i have set by dipswitches)

There are some good articles on tom's page as well as a good one here

hope this helps

ps, make sure u are in jumper mode, not jumper free. There is a special jumper u set to put into jumper mode

Thanks for the help I am not sure if my L1 are all open or not but I was able to OC my 700 TB to 900mhz could not get it past, at 950 it was freezing at the windows splash screen. Also I changed the multiplier on the dips (assuming L1 brige was open still have not checked) but I left it in jumper free mode and up the cpu core voltage via the bios and with asus prob it reads vcore at 1.936 if I was to make sure my L1 briges are open would that make a diffence on how higher I may be able to go

How did you get from 700 to 900?

You either did
a) upped the bus frequency from 100Mhz to something else via the bios or dipswitches

or b) changed the multiplier via the dipswitches

or c) a combination of both

i would be surprised if you did just a , as that would mean that u upped the cpu bus to 128 Mhz, which i doubt would be able to boot. (the highest I got bus to go to and still boot was 111Mhz)

You probably did b , changed the Mhz by the multiplier settings, which means that the L1 bridges are already unlocked.

So if you did just b, and you want a little more, then you could possibly add a bit of a) which is up the cpu bus a little from 100MHz, either by changing in the bios or changing the bus dipswitches....

nice job on the voltage...

do a search for the program called wcpuid,

it's a small program that'll tell you cpu speed, bus speed and multiplier settings

hope some of this helps

ps right now i'm running tb 800 @ 950 100Mhz x 9.5 with GW FOP38 fan, temp idle around 33-36

Well your right I mostly used b changed the multiplier via dipswitches but I changed bus speed via bios by 1 which put me to 909mhz can't go any higher other wise it does not boot. here are the specs from wcpuid program internal 908.95, external 201.99 clock multiplier 9.0 and I thank you for the help
