Hello, I've recently built a PC with a friend's help and I ran into problems after I finished putting the parts together.

When I got done installing windows 10 everything was working fine and I manage to install my drivers for my CPU and GPU. After 15 minutes of starting up my computer my screen froze forcing me to hard shutdown. For every time I start up my PC it would freeze after 10 minutes and sometimes randomly. I've searched and searched and attempted to solve my problem for 2 months now and none of the solutions in the internet seem to work for me so I had no choice but to ask for help in the forums. I also bought a new CPU fan and another hard drive to check if that was the problem, but still no luck.

PC Specs:
AMD A10-7700k
Zotac GTX 750 ti 2gb
GIGABYTE f2a68hm-h fm2
Patriot Viper 3 8gb (2x4gb) DDR3-1600 memory
EVGA 500 W1

Here's an Image of what happens when PC freeze, distorted colors appear on the top edge of my screen. - https://gyazo.com/f2e2dddb2d43f001b65258b28095d9e7

Solution

I'm 100% sure that I have the right drivers and have tried to use the integrated graphics card in my CPU and it leads me to the same issue. I have tried to use different monitors and a combination of cables and still no luck.

Go into control Panel > power settings.
Click "other options." set power for "maximum performance."
Go down the power options list and turn OFF all power saver features.
Hard drive standby : NEVER
Link power state management : OFF
Allow computer to turn off devices to save power: NEVER
Monitor standby: NEVER

Go into the device manager.
Scroll down to "mouse and other pointing devices."
Double click "HID complaint mouse."
Click on power setting tab.
UN-check the box that says: "turn off this device to save power."

Now go thru every device on the list, and turn off the power saver.

Open bios
Turn OFF cool and quiet.
Reboot and problems with freezing should be solved.

Solution
This could be an overheating issue. You have not reported any temperatures. You should check and record the temperatures of the CPU, motherboard (often called "System", and GPU, first at cold start-up time, then at 5-minute intervals of use until it freezes. While you're at that, watch all your fans to see what they are doing.

I think this is a power settings issue....most computers that freeze have this issue.

I actually just had this happen to me!

Strangely enough, it turned out to be a hard drive issue. The computer was extremely slow booting, had the weird coloring along the top of the screen like luke.canlas716 did and sometimes hardly responsive once the desktop loaded - which is what pointed me to look at my ssd/hdd health. Low and behold, my system drive was over 15% fragmented and had disk errors. I use Disktrix's Ultimate Defrag 5. Turns out it wasn't defragging on schedule.

Defragging and running chkdisk fixed it for me.
