Need help new to pc build would this build im going for work?

hi im going to be making my first pc build and wanted to know if what i put together would work for what im trying to achieve.

goal : 2k gameing at 60fps. ultra settings on most moder games. DX12 compatable.

cpu: AMD FX 8350

mobo: Asus M5A78L-M PLUS/USB3 Micro ATX AM3+
ram : not shore yet but will be 16gb ddr3 or 1 single 8 gb ddr3 that will be expanded to 16 in the future.

GPU GTX 1060 6gb or RX480 8GB.

1TB hard drive

EVGA 650-700 B1 80+ Bronze ( idk if this is overkill would i be okay with a 500 or 550?)

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Processor cooler. would this build work and achieve my goal?.

I agree but 1440p is 2,560 x 1,440 resolution and the OP said 2K which means 1080p technically, because it's 1920 pixels wide. Unless of course he meant 2.5K which is indeed 1440p.

hmmm but i saw on some bench marks that the 8350 handles the 1060 just fine with only slight botel necking on some game but very minior and wouldnt the 8350 preform better on DX12 witch most games are moveing to since it multy threated?

This is what AMD had planned with the piledriver lineup, but it has happened very late. The platform is already 4-5 years old. This is good news for those with the AM3+ hardware, but I wouldn't start recommending them for new builds. You won't get newer tech like DDR4, M.2 drive support, or PCI-e 3.0

Even with DX12, the FX-8350 CPU will still bottleneck the GTX 1060 in some games. And what about DX11? Most games are still DX11 so you won't see any benefit there.

It's not actually that "cheap" to get an FX CPU, if you are going to want to be overclocking any of them you are going to be investing more in a quality motherboard (the M5A78L-M PLUS/USB3 isn't a good board for overclocking) and CPU cooler whereas for an Intel CPU you can get a H110/B150/H170 board and run any Skylake CPU off it with the stock cooler, mitigating the difference in price between them and getting better performance while saving energy and less heat output. (Unless you want to overclock the K series which require a Z170 motherboard and don't come with a stock cooler)

In any intensive application that prefers single core performance (which is most of them) you aren't going to want an FX CPU. I wish AMD the best and hope they offer some competition with the upcoming AM4 Zen, but right now from a gaming perspective there's no reason to buy one of their CPU's. So my recommendation is to go with Skylake right now, or wait for AMD Zen next year.

Also, if you're more concerned about DX12 than DX11, you may want to get a 8GB Radeon RX 480 instead of the GTX 1060. It does have the edge in DX12, Vulkan, more VRAM, and Crossfire Support. The GTX 1060 is better for DX11 games.

If you don't want or need the extra 2 RAM slots or anything else but the absolute minimum basics you can get a H110 motherboard. As for the power supply, you can get something that would cost less, but it's less energy efficient and not modular. It may limit future upgrades as well.

The main difference is you just get less USB3 ports, Sata ports, PCie slots, Ram slots. So yes it would be better to go with one stick of 8GB for now. You only lose dual channel with one stick of RAM. But I still recommend Kingston.

i have one more question if i where to go with the first build you recommended me and change out the gtx 1060 for a RX 480 8GB what would i need to change if i wanted to upgrade in the future by buying another RX 480 and run them both with crossfire?

I would upgrade to a GTX 1080. With crossfire you don't get double the performance with two cards.

If you wanted to do crossfire you would have to upgrade the power supply to the G2 650W minimum - and change the case too, I don't think the Core 2300 would accommodate two cards too well, the drive bays would probably get blocked. The Define S case would be a better choice for crossfire.

You could use a 1080 on an H170 but I wouldn't attempt to overclock it. If you want to overclock your CPU and GPU you're better off going with Z170.
