I'm new to Computer gaming and I've upgraded a Pre-built Desktop I bought back in 2011

Motherboard - ASUS P5KPL-CM (Socket 775)
RAM - 4.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 501MHz
HDD - (279GB Maxtor 6L300S0) (OS Windows 7)
HDD - (Reformatted, used for extra space) > 466GB Seagate ST3500320AS)

Old CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Old GPU - 512MB GeForce 8400 GS

New CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / overclocked at 3Ghz
New GPU - 1024MB AMD Radeon HD 7700

I play at 1920 x 1080

As I only play DayZ "Not standalone" and Runescape. I'm not really sure what games I can Invest in seeing as DayZ is poorly optimized. Runescape which is basically in the same boat, even with the new client. Though, still pretty good at nearly max settings giving 30fps plus... With fps drops which I think is down to the Hard-drive not loading cache fast enough. Any recommended upgrades or is this past its use haha

(I'm looking at getting a SSD)

Thanks for all replies and help

Don't need a beast of a rig, to be superior to what you currently have, as yours is so old.

In an ideal world I'd splash some cash at a beast of a RIg, Just don't have the money at the moment.

Currently, for some bizarre reason. I'm getting between 30fps in cities and 40 - 46fps while not in cities on DayZ on high settings. I used to get 30fps and below in cities and in the 40s everywhere else with min settings. Only change I have done is download "Raptr" AMD Gaming Evolved. Thinking it was a driver update because AMD settings prompted an update, so failing to connect to AMD server it took me to Radeon Software Crimson ReLive Edition 16.12.2. It had that "Raptr" in the update package so thats the only thing I can think of thats changed anything. Its really bizarre and I'm confused by it honestly.

It really depends what you want. Are you happy with the games you play, and the performance you get? If so, you shouldn't upgrade.

However, if you want more performance, or want to play heavier, nicer, newer games i'd save up for a while to afford yourself a decent new rig from scratch. If you want to a decent gaming pc, then there is nothing you can use from the above, except for maybe the two HDD's. You would still have to buy a small ssd or something. Seriously, those specs are pretty bad.

For 800 pounds you'd have a nice rig. If you want me to make you a build, let me know.
