What are you going to use this PC for?

As far as the CPU goes, you pretty much get what you pay for, although out of the X99 CPU's available the 5820K is by far the best value.
For memory, it's hard to go wrong, there are far too many good choices and you won't notice a performance difference no matter what brand you get so just get something with lots of good reviews, or a brand you trust with a good warranty.
The motherboard is where you can get more picky, although just like with memory, the MB won't affect performance (asides from Overclocking of course).
When looking at the MB it's wise to consider what connectivity it has: Number of USB ports (2.0 and 3.0), Number of SATA and M.2 slots, PCI-E slots (and if they're x1, x4, x8 or x16), what kind of Network interface (most use Intel but some use Killer), and stuff like that.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply!

Mainly will be used for gaming, and picture editing using adobe software. Main things I have been getting hung up on are the processor ( is it really worth it to go with the 5930k for the full 40 lanes of pcie, I am running 970 sli) and making sure I have a proper motherboard that isnt just all bells and whistles for a premium price.

Here's something to ease your mind as far as "sufficient PCI-E lanes" go:
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GTX_980_PCI-Express_Scaling/

You'll notice that whether you use PCI-E 3.0 X16/X8/X4 or Even PCI-E 2.0 X16/X8 there's really barely a bottleneck issue (maybe 1-5% Max).

That's sorta what I was thinking but glad to see it isnt much of an improvement for 28 lanes vs 40 lanes.

Now on to the MB, have been back and fourth between these here:

MSI X99A SLI KRAIT EDITION
MSI X99A GAMING 7
MSI X99A MPOWER

I wouldn't go with the Gaming 7 simply because of the Killer network, I've had issues with it before (and so did my friend) yet I've never experienced an issue with the Intel NIC's.

And the KRAIT and MPOWER look almost the same just different colors. I don't think you can go wrong with either.
I take it you like MSI :p

Lol just the ones I have looked at that seem to fit the best. I currently have a Asus z97 Deluxe, and it does everything I need it to. Just looking to switch it up, I do think I like the MSI Bios GUI better though.
