Hey community. I have just upgraded my workstation, it used to have a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz cpu and now I have upgraded it to a Intel Core Pentium D 945 3.4Ghz cpu but it says that the Core 2 duo is faster in the windows index. It gets a rating of 5.9 but the Pentium gets a score of 3.4Ghz. Why? is it not as good. They came out in the same year at the same month and I can't really believe this. Should I just not listen to what windows says about this performance but I need help to find out this.

Thanks

Just no.

You downgraded substantially.

The 945 is a Pentium 4 (aka worst CPU architecture on earth) while the Core2 is conroe based.

Even with 1 GHz less clock speed the E6600 easily beats the 945 because the 945 has a long pipeline and takes many more cycles to do the same thing.
