Question Noctua NF-A14 Industrial PPC 2000RPM IP67 PWM to NF-A14x25 G2 ?

Just baught two 'returned' NF-A14 Industrial PPC 2000RPM IP67 PWM to upgrade my old bequiet 3-pin front case fans. Yes much better airflow and lower idle rpm due to the pwm but the noise !?. Limited top speeds using armoury crate for a more pleasant gaming experience but the low rpm tickover 'crackling' motor noise is so annoying !!. This has been mentioned by others but too late for me now and I understand why they were returned !.....

Anyone upgraded these to the new nf-a14x25 g2 ?. Long shot I know. Hopefully the tickover noise is much reduced. I know the airflow won't be as high but still a noise improvement in BOTH respects ?

You've pointed out something that I've been saying pretty much for the past decade or so. Noise is a subjective matter, as is design and beauty. Some people can't tell the difference between one fan to the next while another can hear the ticking of the motor.

How are these fans mounted in your chassis with regards to orientation? As in are they mounted vertically or horizontally?

How are these fans mounted in your chassis with regards to orientation? As in are they mounted vertically or horizontally?

The case is right by my side so hard to ignore the crackle 😳. Mounted vertically on the front. Took the brown rubbers off when mounting and had no black ones so straight on the case metal. Rubbers won't help though as can hear the crackle coming from the motors themselves !.

The Industrials are server fans. They weren't exactly intended to be ran at low(er) rpms. If the non-Industrial models at their maximum operation - or close to it - is intolerable to the user, then the Industrials are not an improvement. The motor is also different for the Industrial, allowing for better operation at high(er) rpm, Noctua doesn't say anything about low rpm.
The G2s should be an improvement for low rpm operation.

I have 12 of the NF-A14x25 G2s; 8 in my BeQuiet Silent Base 802-039 case and 4 in my Lian Li O11 Air Mini case (plus 2 G1s in black and 3 NF-A12x25s). They all idle at around 25 to 30 percent and I don't hear any noise even from a few inches away. They don't ramp up until my cpu hits 80C and reach full speed at 90C. Works fine for me; your mileage may vary.
