That is the current specs of my PC on a run Photoshop to create a different artistic styles to my portraits I run actions I don’t know if y’all are familiar with that but right now my surface pro six cannot handle it it’s just very slow I have an external Seagate 4 terabyte backup hard drive that I use for memory.....

i’m a broke mom of 4 and I’m looking for a way to upgrade my PC without actually upgrading and have it be budget friendly because I have to get them each I don’t know probably refurnish PCs so that they could do their schoolwork from home but anyhow that’s another thread what can I do to get the current specs above to work for me and my graphic design without hiccups

I know I need more ram where can I look to get budget friendly ram that will do what I need to do and what else would I need a graphics upgrade maybe? Where do I find the correct ones for my PC

Solution
Yes, more RAM would help.
The other issue is running things from the external 4TB drive. That will also be slow.

That small Surface thing is not really a good content creation machine.
  1. Your system can run Photoshop. Not great, but it will run.
  2. Does it have to be actual Adobe Photoshop? There are a multitude of low cost or free alternatives.
Thank you for your response, I’ve been working in graphic design for several years now and I know what the hell my kids dead being home these past few months but the computer is sluggish and constantly freezing and then I can’t even do control alt delete to and task I have to force it to shut down. I previously ran for a shot without issues some things I did you know you could tell that it was really putting a load on it but it worked now nothing

I’ve been using my surface pro six but that only had 128 GB memory so I’m using an external drive on that as well, and that as well is becoming very slow you know like it’s not in the best health I’m only one that uses the surface so I know it’s in Photoshop that’s doing it I’ve tried can buy a few others but for the photos that is pretty much my go to I didn’t know if maybe adding a ram card to bring it up to 16 GB would possibly solve some of my issues I know it won’t be off miracle but I can’t keep sitting night after night trying to Complete my assignments that should take less than an hour at this point and it’s taking me several hours.

I agree surface is not good creating small screen and no power.... I have no idea running files from an external drive also slows down the ram thank you for giving me that knowledge..
