Hey guys! I am looking to upgrade my current computer to be able to play more modern games in with respectable fps and quality. Currently I have the following specs:

Windows 8.1 64 bit
a8 6500 apu
6144mb ram (probably ddr3 I do not know)
gtx 950 4gb
generic 286 watt PSU
asus K30bf_m32bf fm2 socket
HDD 149gb and HDD 763gb
Case is mATX

I want to focus on upgrading my HDD and CPU, so I searched and thought these were great:

Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" 6Gb/s Solid State Drive
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0) AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD FX-8320 Vishera 8-Core 3.5 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W FD8320FRHKBOX Desktop Processor

I currently have the budget of about $450. Should I try to purchase a PSU? Is there any other alternatives that are cheaper or better for the price? Is there any compatibility issues? I really need help as this is the first major PC upgrade. Thank you!

EDIT: By the way, my budget is $450 CAD.

Okay guys this is what I can buy tomorrow at a nearby store. I chose not to include an SSD, however will buy one once I get more money. The CPU costs $155 CAD, so in total $429 including tax. How does this list look?

Looks good, except that OEM chips don't come with stock coolers as they're meant for system manufacturers like Dell, HP, etc.

You'd have to buy a separate cooler if you get an OEM CPU.

Solution

I have a Cooler Master Hyper T2 that I plan to use as my CPU cooler. Hopefully that will work as it is currently working with my current motherboard at the moment. Is there anything I need to know about this upgrade though? I understand that I have to reinstall Windows 8.1 again by activating my key or something like that. I would also have to purchase thermal paste. I just want to make sure I make the upgrade correctly with messing up.
