That is a possibility, but since it's 1.3250, my guess is it's just a new G0. Since all the new ones are 1.3250, and all the new ones are G0s as well.

And again, the older batch idea is where it's at!

Oddest Fing thing, my new Chip, though OEM, reflects a creation date of 08. So it's not outside the possibility of intel selling the low VIDs to OEMs still, so no one getting a retail can cheat and OC it that well. Gotta buy the better 1k chips!

After all, the OEM dells and junk with the q6x00 series processor is usually never OC'd simply because its the old ladies and non smart people, MOSTLY!! That get the OEM complete systems. It's an effective way to curb over clocking. Locked in the Bios, and sold to usually non tech type peoples.

Intel has always hated it.

I am about to get the q6600 OEM with Rampage Formula and 2x2gb of OCZ ddr2-1066 at 5-5-5-18 5 CAS recommended 2.1 volts.

This will be my first overclock and I was looking for some suggestions on settings I should try out. I have heard the Rampage is good for people new to overclocking, but has the power to take you all the way to the extreme tweaker level.

Also in the Tomshardware guide to OC quad cores by graysky, he mentions on his MoBo that CPU VID Control will be called Vcc, and that VID is an entirely different idea. Obviously then this current thread is talking about the voltage (Vcc) on the cores.

Also I understand more and more about the core voltages, ICH, MCH, etc. but the idea with FSB and Ram at 333mhz or 400mhz confuses the hell out of me. Could someone explain to me - or point me in a direction to figure that one out.

Set your RAM manually to 2.1v

I was new to overclocking until a few weeks ago and I'm also running a 1.325 Q6600 GO on a Rampage Formula. The board's BIOS is amazing, everything you could possibly need there; sometimes even too many options, theres a lot of stuff there that you wouldn't even be able to see on other boards.

YOu're wrong about the VID/vcc though as far as I'm aware. When people refer to the VID of their chip, this is the voltage required to boot the chip. I also have a 1.325v VID, and I'm running mine at 3.4ghz atm. I have to run it at 1.48v and under 100% load its on about 59 degrees.

I've had my Rampage Formula for quite some time now and I love it..

I run my Q6600 @ 3.6 stable. ( temps usually idle around 38-49c ) load to 59-62ish

Since we don't have the 1:1 etc option in bios ( least i havent seen it ) I use 400x9.0 ( 3.61) and set ram to 400 ( 1066 )
I have 8 gigs ( 4x2g )G.Skill 1066 5-5-5-15 which i run at 5-5-5-12 ( dont know if that actually is faster than 15 but heh)
Set manually to 2.1V, i also have the CPU volts set to 1.4125 in the bios ( which is like 1.34 in CPUID ) my cpu is 1.2500VID
I also disable Intel Speed Stepping.

I was messing around tonight and at 1.48vcore in bios i could boot and run 3Dmark06 with 425x9 (3.825Ghz ) and only got 1700 more in 3dmark06 but temps were idle 42ish loading 67ish. im keeping my rampage formula ( since it still sells for over 200 american ) and thinking of either upgrading my cpu to a Q9650 or upping my vid cards from 2 3870's in crossfire to a 4890 but dunno what to do yet ( staying with 775 for a while so maybe upgrading to the 9650 now and waiting on a dx11ish card to come out.

It's a YEAR OLD thread, I bet he's got it figured out by now. Thanks for playing.
