need help.pc keeps crashing.

hey, I just built my pc and it keeps crashing.
here's my specs
CPU- FX-4300 Quad core 3.80.
Motherboard - M5A 78L-M LX PLUS.
GPU - Radeon HD 6950 2GB.
PSU - King win 650w maximum power.
Hard Drive is old I think in the 2004 area.
Ram- 4GB Kingston 1600
OS- Windows 8.1.
My PC crass is whenever I play a game but I can play minecraft for and hour or two maybe more,
halo Spartan assault. I don't know how long with this game. If I play Skyrim my PC will crash when I hit play or in loading screen
I still have power going threw my PC but nothings on.
I have to turn off the PSU for about 5 secs for turn it back on.
IF you can help please do.

What are your CPU and GPU temps.

PSU is trash. Replace with Antec, XFX, Seasonic unit.

Your CPU temps is NOT 29 max. That is wrong. It should be in the low 50s.

What is the GPU max temp?

use msi afterburner to check this.

That is perfectly fine. What do you mean you think? You need to know before we can rule that out.

Also check the CPU using coretemp.

I'm thinking it is that crap PSU though.

You need to run something demanding to get the CPU to work hard. 15c isn't even possible. What program are you using?

Your GPU is at 74 when at 100% load right? What about at idle?

Yeah, 45 isn't possible. All computer temps are in C. That is normal. has nothing to do with Canada.

If your CPU is at 79, it is overheating. It should not leave the mid50s. You have a problem and that might be it. Make sure the cooler is properly seated.

Use coretemp for the CPU and MSI afterburner for the GPU unless you can give me definitive idle and load temps for your CPU and GPU. That list doesn't tell me anything.

So my PC restarted it's self and said something about the PSU and so in took out my GPU and now I was able to start skyrim on low but it worked so i'm going to take it as I need a better PSU and maybe anew GPU

No the GPU is fine. The PSu is the problem. Replace it ASAP with one from the brands I listed.

Also, if you CPU really is hitting 74 that is a problem. It is frying.
