Hello, I'm in the market for a new monitor and I'm pretty stuck. I want something to make the most out of my PS5 AND my PC which has an RTX 4060.
  • The most demanding games I currently play on PC are Diablo 4 and Sea of Stars. I don't play first person shooters, mostly JRPGs and older games.
  • Screen tearing has been a problem for me playing D4 (currently using V-sync) so I would like something with G-sync.
    • Do I need G-sync ultimate or native, or is G-sync compatible generally good enough?
  • People say the 4060 is only good for 1080P gaming. The PS5 can do 4k @120hz. Should I aim high for the PS5 or find a middle ground?
    • Can I get away with 2560x1440 as a middle ground since I'm generally not playing overly demanding games on PC?
    • If I get a 4k or 2k monitor, couldn't I just drop the settings to 1080P in-game on PC if my 4060 can't handle it?
  • I'd really like something with excellent picture quality and colors.
  • I like to try and future proof, even though I likely won't upgrade anything in my stack for a long time. Should I shoot for HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4? I think I need HDMI 2.1 to make the most out of the PS5, yes?
  • I assume 144hz refresh rate should be sufficient, or would it make sense to go any higher?
  • I have the desk space so I'm not opposed to getting 2 displays if I can't find the right one that makes sense for both PC and PS5. Is there a really good 1080P 27" or 32" that you'd recommend for the PC that doesn't break the bank and then maybe I just get a 4k 120hz refresh TV with a gaming mode for the PS5???
So yeah, I've been looking for a while and can't make up my mind. Here are some of my leading candidates:
  • Sony 27” INZONE M9
  • AOC AG274QGM
  • Gigabyte M27U
  • LG 27GP850-B Ultragear
I really, truly appreciate any advice y'all can give me. Thanks in advance.
