Need help - Problem with Torrent on WiFi

I'm terrible with networks and all of this sort, and I can't get any torrents to download in any torrent program that I have tried.

I followed a simple guide how to open port forwarding but this didn't help.

So my question are:
1. Does some routers simply not work with torrent downloading?
2. Are there any torrent programs that are better to use for WiFi networks, perhaps some router that will automatically set-up for this use?
3. Could my ISP be blocking it?

Some info:
I don't remember which router brand or model I use, I think it's a Chinese brand.
I have tried to disable firewall and anti-virus.
I have also set up port forwarding correctly, or as far as I know I did it correctly.
I have not tried with cable yet.

Thanks in advance.

I use Emule and Vuze with PeerBlock and connect. You may want to go to your settings in your torrent program and open up a port then go to your wireless settings on your router and do a custom setup with the same port. Also make sure your firewall is not blocking the port or the program.

A router is a stupid box it just passes traffic and really has no concept of what that traffic is. It really can't tell if you are running torrent or a game or whatever. You can of course configure routers to block things but by default they just allow anything.

Even then there is no difference between WiFi and ethernet related to what traffic will or will not pass. Many people actually want a feature like that and it is close to impossible in most routers to make traffic rules different based on if the user is wireless or not.

If your router works for web surfing and video and games etc I would suspect the ISP is blocking torrent somehow but it could be your PC settings also.

I did this but without any success. I opened up port forwarding in my router and used the same ports in my torrent programs. I checked the ports and no connection could be established.

The firewall, antivirus was also disabled so that it would not interfere.

Maybe I am still doing it wrong but I highly doubt that. 🙁

Yes I can download through FTP and direct links, but when I try torrent files it never works. However, I will rule out that my ISP is blocking the torrents since all people use this website here in China, and we only have two(?) ISP's and I'm using the biggest one. For foreign torrents, yes it could be.

Thanks for trying to help me guys.
