need help: radeon x850pro or 7600 gt?

hi guys.

I need an advice.I wanna buy a new VC sadly still AGP and I have a choice between connect3D radeon x850 pro and leadtek winfast A7600 GT. the price is almost the same.I've read reviews,specs but still can't make up my mind.7600GT has newer tech, hicgher core speed but 128 bit bus. the radeon has slower clock (i've read it should be 520 , but on connect3d's site says 500 clock, 500 memory) but a 256 bit bus, plus it doesn't have the newer features of 7600GT. another thing about the radeon is that I haven't found out if it supports widescreen res (1400x900) but I guess it should, right 😀?
I'd appreciate any help whatsoever

hmmm...100 views...no reply. I know you probably see this 1000 times a day but I would appreciate it if you would just say left or right.I haven't tried ATI yet so... it's tricky. A native magazine sayed that Leadtek A7600GT is the best AGP solution on the country's market, but there wasnt't a X850Pro in the test.So I came here to ask for help...

ok...after some search and read I'd incline towards the 7600GT but still the opinions are divided.I'm not planning to overclock.

I apologize for the nth post of this type but my question was about those specific brand and models

If it comes to down and dirty power the 850 beats the 7600gt, if i remember correctly. The 7600GT has the advantage of a newer Shader Model though (SM3). Some people argue that the 7600GT is too weak to handle SM3 and that, because of this, the 850 is the better card.

If you intend to play older games, then get the 850 and max out the settings. The 7600 GT won´t play newer games at maximum settings but its a little more future proof. Take a look at the new splinter cell - it requires sm3, if i recall it right. The problem you might have is, that the game simply sucks (eye candy wise) with the 7600GT - but you will be able to play it which you can´t with a 850.

And now something you may want to consider: Get rid of your old mainboard, buy a PCIe board and get a PCIe card. Compare the prices of AGP cards to their PCIe counterpart. It may cost you 20$ more but you end up with a newer, more future proof mainboard and you don´t have to choose between the limited choices of AGP cards.

This is the 7600GT you want. It has GDDR3 memory instead of GDDR2 so its a heck of alot faster. That is if you wanna spend 200+ but if you can then i suggest just the regular verison going for 130$

I had bought a 7800gt agp, because I wanted to see how much of a performance gain I could get from it if I took my ATI x800xl back to a retail store. However, I didn't get too much performance gain at the resolution, I usually play, which are 1280x1024 and 1024x768. I also notice, nvidia's graphic's are not as crisp and clear as ATI's. I couldn't stand the image on my screen, (2d&3d). I felt shouldn't a 3d card suppose to render "crisp and vibrant" images. I tried to persuade myself, "Well, there is a little performance gain, and maybe I'll forget about ATI's good image quality. After one day, I couldn't stand it. I had to take back the 7800gt and luckily, there was one more ati x850 pro. I've felt so good that I got the last one. So far I've been able to play most games; Doom3, Prey, Rainbow Six 3, Battlefield 2, etc. If you want shader model 3.0, get the 7600gt instead.

Oh no. The 7600GT is better than the X850 pro for sure. It would be a rare game the X850 pro could keep up as the 7600GT keeps up with the 16-pipe X850XT. Priced the same, without question, the 7600GT is the one to buy.

But there is a new king of AGP appearing that is way better than a 7600GT:

If you have a higher end AGP rig and can afford $250, this is the card to get.

thanx for the reply's guys. I ordered a leadtek winfast a7600gt tdh today.If I recall correctly it too has 256 MB DDR3 memory.anyway...by the time the 1950XT gets on my country's market at an acceptable price, i'll change the whole system ). I didn't choose the connect3d radeon because of the core and memory speeds I read about in the best card for your money article and connect3d's specs (500Mhz core/ 500 Mhz memory).plus..I like the way my current leadtek winfast a6600gt tdh performs...I just wanted 256 MB of DDR3 memory instead of 128 MB😀 the extra clock and memory speeds plus the pipelines are just icing on the cake (just joking 😛 )

You remembered incorrectly, and it is the 7600GS that a lot of people (myself included) would argue is too weak to fully utilize sm3.0. 8)
