Need help repairing an old pc

so my friends grandfather sent a pc my way to see if i could repair it but its so old i have no spare parts to replace them with to find out whats wrong. i've also never worked on a pc this old,

the problem is it will turn on but i wont get any display no beeps no anything but the fans turning

so what i would like to know is if i can repair this thing or give the old guy some bad news.

What did you look at already? Did you open the case at least to look at the components? No way to know what you need to do to repair it until you find out what the issue is. Maybe a bad motherboard, maybe a bad power supply, maybe bad video card, maybe a loose connection. Can't diagnose things just by knowing it does not get a display. You did not put any details about the system either, need those.

Check the motherboard for any bulging or leaking caps. Many old systems, in my experience, exhibit this kind of behavior, due to caps going bad.

Yeah.....do you know the make & model?

Having an idea of how old this rig is will give us a better idea.

Sorry for the veuge question but with some more tinkering i fixed my problem sorry for wasting your time but thanks for trying to help
