Need help selecting a laptop

I am looking to buy a laptop, more specifically a gaming laptop. im not looking for anything top tier or anything. just looking for something that can run the current games around mediums settings if possible. my budget is around $1000 give or take but I want to get the most out of my money. I have heard that the ASUS ROG GL551JW-DS71 15.6-Inch was a great choice, I like it but I found some threads that mention while yes it is a good laptop, there are better choices for my money or I could get something better.

I also found Acer V15 Nitro VN7-591G 15.6-inch. I heard good things about this one too but again similar mentions of there being better choices.

I found some other good ones but these 2 stuck out to me the most. id like a few opinions on some good choices. perhaps something cheaper than what those first two cost with just as good performance or close to just as good. any and all suggestions would be appreciated

i'd prefer asus over acer even though it has less graphic memory.but as i have tried : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232427R myself i'll suggest looking at this product to.it's got a way better display and graphic memory.
also i feel the price point can also be a problem here.So out of those two. I'd suggest asus one.
