Need help upgrading my CPU

Currently I have an i3-3330 with 8gb of ddr3 ram and a GTX960.
I want to upgrade my CPU to something better which means I will have to atleast upgrade my motherboard as well. Do I go for a CPU that works with my RAM or upgrade my CPU, RAM and motherboard? If so, what should I go for?
I have a budget of around £340/$484.

If you can save up another £60 you can get a Ryzen 1600, Asus strictly b350f and 16gb of team dark 3000 ram. You could always go for 8gb probably in budget but 16gb would be my recommendation

Sorry for the late reply, but is 16gb of RAM standard with newer processors or would 8gb be fine?

8GB will be fine, but the RAM is in single channel mode.
