Need help upgrading my current build!

A few years back, I had someone build me my first pc. Everything worked great for what I needed at that time, but I'm looking to move from console gaming to pc and my current build just is not cut out for that. I have about $400 for the upgrade. I was hoping to keep as many of the parts currently in the build, but I'm not sure if thats possible.
Current build:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-F2A85X-D3H FM2 AMD A85X (http://bit.ly/YgKAor)
CPU: Intel i7-4720hq (2.6ghz)
PSU: RaidMax RX-530ss
Memory: 2x8gb ram

that cant possibly be your curent build - the motherboard is amd & the cpu is intel - they wouldnt even fit together let alone work!!

the 4720hq is a mobile soc chip as far as I know - generally found in laptops.

Your some PC's specifications are enough such as your processor, psu and ram and all you need to do and what i am suggesting you is to buy a graphic card under the budget such as if you had gigabyte nvidia geforce gtx-750 ti graphic card it would work fine and you would be able to play games on 3d adjustable settings with fine fps and if your budget is $400 you can buy gigabyte geforce gtx-960 4gb edition graphic card which is far more suitable with the current high graphics video games such as doom 4,rise of the tomb raider and much more...

Also should mention that I do not planning on playing any games on ultra settings, but the minimum to medium settings.
Looking at the correct cpu makes me think it's time for an upgrade there too.

Rx 460 , good for medium settings, very efficient power wise & best of all cheap


Those are your best budget options for upgrading that rig without doing a full rebuild - no need to spend even close to $400 (That should come to a little over $200)

In your opinion, would it be better(or even possible) to half rebuild (reusing psu, harddrive, fans, etc.) and get a new mainboard, cpu and graphics card or to just stick with what I have and the upgrades (maybe a little more powerful graphics card)?
Also probably a bad question, but if I were to replace the mainboard would I have to get a new copy of windows (OS)?

with regard to that question mate,the 3 items Ive listed will certainly get you gaming at medium settings on currently available new titles.
