Mobo : Dell optiplex 790 MT
Pcu: Intel i7-2600 @ 3.4 ghz
GPU: Invidia Geforce GTX1050 Ti
PSU: corsair 550W
Ram: 16GB DDR2

I need to replace my motherboard mainly because its giving me weird problems with my ram. I can only use 8GB of ram right now because it gives me 1 and 3 lights when i try to run anymore than 8GB of ram and wont start. Ive had this problem before so I replaced the ram and it was working fine for awhile until it started acting up again recently.

I need to at least replace my motherboard. I was hoping to find one that I could upgrade to newer gpu/cpu when I have the money but a Mobo that can still use my old hardware in the meantime.

What do you recommend that I do? Its black friday now's the time to upgrade everything although I dont want to spend more than $300 . If i was to buy a new mobo what one should I get? Or should I just use the money and just buy a refurbished PC somewhere and just put my GPU in it. If so which refurbished PC should I buy that is compatible with my gpu? Any advice is appreciated. I just want to run modern games as my rig struggles a bit since the PCU is really old.

thanks in advance.

A good mobo is the AsRock B365 PRO4 Socket 1151 or an MSI H310M PRO-BHD Plus Socket 1151, with the 2x8 Kingstone Fury Beast 16GB DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Dual Channell , and maybe try and put on that if u have the money an I3 9100f or the I3 8100, but if u have the money u can get an I5 11600k as well being 50$ mkre expensive than the I3 9100f so Id recommend this. Second Option change to Amd same ram that I put the first time but the mobo should be the B450 Tomahawk MAX II Socket AM4 or the Aorus B450 Elite Socket AM4 or if u want a more budget version Gygabite B450 Gaming X Socket AM4 with the AMD Ryzen 5 1600x or no budget AMD Ryzen 7 2700x

16 gb of RAM ddr2 will never run well on a modern game , so in my opinion u can change the ram and the mother board , witb the same cpu socket , and ddr4 chanells. Try to get some 16gb DDR4 3200Mhz or even 3600Mhz I wouldnt recommend u to get a GPU , the prices qre way to high , u should wait more if u wanna get that
