Need Help, windows locking up

I started having this problem a week ago.... I had upgraded my win98 to 2k pro and that had been working fine for about a month. then all of the sudden when i was playing Diablo II LOD my computer locked up.... i said ok thats fine and i rebooted then it happened again...

and when i say Lock up i mean really locking up no CRT-ALT-DEl or ALT-f4 or alt-tab

i checked blizzards support site and it siad to reinstall Diablo so i did that, same problem... i try to play some counter-strike and that locked up....

i tryed do a full system virus scan and that locked up 20% through...

i reformatted my hard drive and installed WIN98SE i start playing diablo and boom lock up....

my friend seems to think i have a bad sector on my hd....

im not sure really what to do....

my machine doesnt lock up when im surfing or IM ppl

but when ever i try to play a game or something like that it locks up

anyone know whats going on?

Have you tried running Checkdisk and Defrag? I purchased Diskkeeper and the defragmenter works wonders for Win2k. The defragmenter that came with the OS is a lite version of Diskkeeper. It helps but to get the full benefits try Diskkeeper. Just a recommendation, maybe it will help resolve your problem.
