Help please! I need help building a PC for my younger brother. I got help building mine and it hasn't let me down yet. Hopefully he has the same luck i have had.

His budget is $600. He does need the monitor, but does not need a GPU as i will give him my 1080 since i just upgraded. This is a build someone on another forum had given me, but the MB is no longer being sold it seems.

Please help!

Thank you for taking time to read this thread. I am especially thankful if you took the time out to help out. Very much appreciated!

The monitor puts it over budget.

Not for nothing, you could possibly come in under budget on an AM4 build. The 3600 is very well priced at various outlets, as well as the newer 5600. I recently built a 3600 rig for right at $350 (also had GPU in hand as you do) with some concessions to price vs. quality. Some of that pricing is not available any more, but with the overhead I think it is still doable pretty cheap.

Nothing at all wrong with the 11600K as suggested, but you will probably need to explore various 5xx chipset motherboards such as B560. I would not concern myself specifically with a "Z" chipset, as overclocking on that 11th gen i5 isn't worthwhile in most cases. (might also consider an 11400) People will claim it is a dead end chip, which it is for upgrading, but truth be told, so is the suggestion for AM4 above as well as the newer Intel chips which dead ended into a 14th gen refresh that simply isn't really worth purchasing. Your price point is going to force a bit of "settling with" as it were.

I really do feel like you could do better along the lines of the build list above, or other similar things with 12th gen CPU as the focus. I am not sure you could come in on AM5 at that price point.

A little over budget, but not by much. I threw in a 1080, just for wattage estimates.
