Building a new pc; I'm new to this... need help with a motherboard; here's are the components that I will go with :
I5 - 6600k or i7 4790k (for gaming and some design, nothing heavy)
cooler master hyper evo 212
corsair vengeance LPX 8gb (2x4gb) DDR4-3000 memory
WD black FZEX 2tb 7200 rpm
gigabyte gtx 970 G1 or MSI 980 (depending on the budget, will use it at 1080p)
NZXT S340 ( would the G1 fit comfortably in here ?)
EVGA Super Nova G2 550W 80+
Motherboard I had this in mind http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128846&cm_re=z170-_-13-128-846-_-Product. What suggestions do you have ?

BoNuS round question : what do you think about the build; does everything go well together ?

You have to choose between going with Skylake or Haswell since they both will use different motherboards and potentially different type of ram.
if you going with Skylake option: i5 6600k, then the the list you currently have seems fine although a mini-iTX motherboard is rather small in a full size atx motherboard. You may have trouble with cables not long enough as well.
The i7 4790k can only use DDR3 and socket 1150 motherboards like a Z97 motherboard.
If you are fine with what a Z97 motherboard offers right now, the i7 4790k is a lot more appealing if both option is the same price. If you want the newer hardware then go with the i5 6600k route then.

I usually upgrade every 4-5 years not really sure what to go with ! what would you go with ?

I know ddr4 maybe makes 2% difference. but for the next 4-5 years I'll be stuck with this build. Last time i made that mistake was when I went with win 7 32 bit (dont ask...). What ram & motherboard do you recommend ?
