I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong section! I was unsure where this should go.
tldr at the bottom!

So yesterday afternoon I bought myself a new laptop as I am a graphics student and my old computer was having problems. However, my newest laptop already has problems, mainly with the graphics. They started as soon as I did anything with the computer. I'll explain.

My computer is a brand new HP Pavilion 15-au062nr laptop that I purchased yesterday. Not used before, the specs are below:

Microprocessor:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz
Graphics:
Intel(R) HD Graphics 520
OS:
Windows 10

I can give more specifics if necessary. The screen is 15.6" with the current resolution of 1920 x 1080 (Recommended).

This paragraph below isn't the real problem, but more of a 'precursor' / background information to graphics problems (?) I've already encountered.

When I turned on the computer, the graphics looked fine. Compared to my older computer the graphics looked great, and I was happy. About ten minutes in in some stuff started happening, I'm unsure how to describe it: the best thing I can think of is perhaps them being 'dead pixels'. They were weird square splotches of black pixels in random locations, mostly over text. They were there in weird spots and at random times. They'd come and disappear on will. This raised concern for me, so I decided to update the computer (as the computer was new and missed a few updates from windows).
I turned back on the computer / restarted and the issue kept happening. After a while it stopped and the issue hasn't come back again.

Now the real problem is the name of the thread. My computer is blurry. I thought at first it was just firefox, but other browsers on this computer have the problem as well.
I thought perhaps it may be the screen itself, but no- when I screenshot and look at the screenshots on a different device, they show how blurry they are.
Mostly photos happen to be blurry- not as much so the text. A lot of applications happen to be blurry as well / badly sized, web browsers are fine.

Screenshot of the device manager which is blurry all over
Screenshot of a random image search on google (of flowers) on the new computer, showing the blurry pictures: and alternatively, for comparison a screenshot on my old computer, where the images aren't blurry

Again, the text looks mostly fine. In web browsers only images are affected, however some applications (such as device manager) end up becoming blurry completely. Some applications end up changing size as well.

I spent four hours yesterday with a few HP service technicians trying to figure out the problem. They didn't help. I've also googled and looked up answers. Here's what I've done basically:

- Completely updated all drivers in relation to video / display (including uninstallng and reinstalling them)
- Updated the computer itself (windows included)
- Updated BIOS (not sure what that really did but the HP service tech suggested it)
- Attempted to change screen resolution + screen resolution settings (changed from scaling to ratio, centered, ect: no change)

I can explain in more detail if necessary!

I've also tried to change the size of things, I believe called DPI scaling (I'm most likely totally wrong on the name here)
The computer comes at a setting of 125% (recommended).
This is a screenshot of Microsoft Edge homepage on the 125%, VS a screenshot of Microsoft Edge homepage on 100%.
On 100% (which is the nondefault setting, 125% is default) everything is so small it doesn't even matter if the images are blurred or not, I wouldn't even be able to tell. Applications that weren't blurred are now blurred (such as control panel).
Images like the background screen appear crisp either way, but things like livetiles do not.

Normally I wouldn't be picky and just be okay with the graphics being slightly blurry, but I am a graphics student now who starts school in a few weeks and I really would like to try and get this fixed. If anyone would be able to help please post a reply, I would appreciate it and try to be cooperative as possible. Thank you so much in advance to anyone who takes their time to help! <3

tldr; Images and some applications appear blurry. Brand new computer. Updated drivers, changing resolution doesn't help. Appears on all browsers. Changed computer scaling with no real help.

Solution
Werlcome to teh joys of DPI scaling on Windows!
125% is teh default settings because W knows it's a high density screen(1080p is too much resolution for 15", you made a bad choice), but it is nevertheless not the natural one(1 pixel = 1 pixel). You basically just have a choice between blurriness and having things small. Nothing you can do about it at all. Except hope and pray for better high DPI app support on W.

@hlsgsz - Okay, thank you. I guess I'll just have to see if the store I bought it from is willing to take the computer back as there was a 14 day return policy. At least I know now, I'll try and get a different one when I return tomorrow.
