[SOLVED] Need help with buying new components.

Hi all,

I would like to upgrade my AMD FX 8300 and my 8GB ram DDR3 to a better build.

I would like to buy one of the new Ryzens but I have no idea which one is the best buy. I need new MB for that as well because I have socket for FX series. I already bought 16GB DDR4 HyperX kit.

So what do I want to buy ?

• New Ryzen CPU which can handle 2 monitors and high end games on at least medium details
• New MB with AM4 socket and DDR4 slots
• Maybe a cooler for CPU
• And a new PSU as well

My graphic card is GTX 1060 6GB so I think maybe some kind of 700W PSU ?

Lets say that MB should be around $120, CPU $160 and PSU around $75.

Any Ryzen CPU will "handle" two monitors and medium details for games, when paired with a 1060.

Don't worry too much about breaking down the budget per component, but it looks like you have a $350 budget for MB, CPU & PSU?

Most B450 motherboards will require a BIOs update to support 3000 series Ryzen chips. I'd opt for the B450 Gaming Plus from MSI, because you can flash the BIOS without a compatible CPU.

NOTE, the PSU is ridiculously overkill for your needs. 450-550W range would be more than adequate. But at $60, it's cheaper than any quality unit in that range (after rebate).

What PSU do you have currently? Depending on what it is, and how old it is, it might make sense to reuse it.

If you happened to have a PSU you could reuse, there's another ~$60 you could put towards a better CPU:

For it's day, I believe that was a pretty solid unit. But yeah, it's time to replace that.
I'd opt for the build I linked above.

what about AMD RYZEN 5 2600X . Its available for like $180 in my country

Things may be totally different in other regions.

The 2600X is a solid CPU, but from a gaming perspective, the 3000 series Ryzen CPUs is where you want to aim.
The process has matured, and you're seeing solid IPC gains over 1000 and 2000 series chips.

yes, i am in slovakia and I listed my budget in $ so you have less work with converting. Anyway, I will stick with the 3000 series then. Thank you for your help

I get "why" you'd do it, but it's not necessary. If you're not buying in the US, or buying with USD, the USD amount doesn't matter one bit. Regional pricing varies, and you're not going to get a direct USD to Euro conversion, most of the time.

You're working with a budget of ~320 EUR? From what I can see on that site, that's going to fall a little short.
Best I can see for 3000 series, a B450 board that can have the BIOS updated without a compatible CPU and a fit for purpose PSU, is around 350 EUR:

R5 3600 @ ~210 EUR
B450 Gaming Plus @ 88 EUR
CX450 @ 55 EUR
