Need help with first build. $2500 budget, give or take.

So I want to build my first computer but i'm not too sure on the parts to build with. I would use this mostly for gaming but maybe eventually video editing. I am about to leave for college so I would like this to be as future proof as possible that way I don't have to spend any money on it while i'm actually in college. I am not sold on anything so everything could be changed if you feel its necessary. I would like to have 2 graphics cards but if 2 can't fit in the budget i'm fine with 1. The absolute maximum I can go is probably about $2800.

I recommend replacing the Asrock Board with this Asus board. I think Asus has the better showing, unless you were going for the aesthitics of the Asrock.

Replace the MX100 with an 850 Evo or Pro, around the same price, performs better. MX200 is also an option.
If you're looking to be 'future proof' I'd say go with 980 ti's instead of 980s, but that would put you over budget. Not sure if you wanna go with just 1 980 ti and get a second later.
Also, replace the H110 with the H100i GTX.

Thanks for the help. If I went with one 980 Ti, which one would you suggest? Also Derza10 I see in your build you went with the i7-4790k rather than the 5820k. What's the difference between the two? Is the 4790k better for the price?

I like this build, overall. I would change the motherboard to the THG recommend MSI z97-gaming5, and the ram to Gskill ripjaws of the same speed and amount.

The i7 4790k is generally better for gaming, and it costs less, also if you go with the 5820k you have to get ddr4 ram - and that costs a good amount more. As of right now you can get ddr3 ram that is just as fast or faster than the ddr4 ram for much cheaper.

DDR4 prices have started to drop. They are not much worse than some high end DDR3 now.

Good catch on the Motherboard, i could have sworn i clicked the MSI 5, heh anyway that is the one i meant to include. As for the ram corsair is a good brand and the set i pick was the cheapest that was case 9 and 1866.

This is a good build. You said you may do video editing so the 5820 k is worth it. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rXffZL It is 200 over but you get 16 gb ddr4, a 5820k and 2 980tis. Id say get 1 nice 4k monitor that has high hz and go 4k 144hz gaming.

The only problem I have with that build is that I want the 750D over the 450D. So I just started looking over some of the other threads and saw that a bunch of new stuff is about to come out. Should I wait until the new things come out? That seems like it would be the best way to go because either I can get the newest parts or the price for these parts will most likely drop right?

Maybe. When the R9 3xx came there was really no dropin price for the 2xx cards. That could be because all 3xx were rebranded and only Fury X was new.
