Need help with first build

Basically this is my first build fromt scratch. I am working to a £500 budget,
So far these are the parts i am looking at, i want to buy everything of "ebuyer.com"

CPU : Q6600
Graphics card : Radeon 4850

I would really like some help filling in the gaps, to make a machine capable of playing games reasonably

Here are some ideas:

Motherboard: GA-P35-DS3

RAM: 2Gb Crucial DDR2-800

PSU: Corsair 500W

Case: Anything you like

Optical drive: anything you like

Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 640Gb.


I just wrote this without checking the price, so you might have to do that.

If you can do that within your budget, yes.

After looking at the site, the board you'll want that they have will probably be the ga-ep35-ds3. The "e" in front of the "p" designates their new generation of boards that are supposed to be more energy efficient. Also, it almost doesn't make sense not to get 4GB these days since it costs so little more to get 4GB over 2GB.

ram: 2-4gb ddr2 800 corsair about 60 to 100 dollars(us dollars)

motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4(it is a crossfire board in case you want to give your 4850 a buddy $230

case: personal i like the antec 300, 900, and 1200 but it is what ever you like really

power supply: corsair 550 watt $100

hard drive: 500gb or so western digital about $100

get a p45 board, in my opinion gigabyte or asus preferably, and a corsair psu.

I think 250GB is a little too small, plus its pretty much a last generation Seagate product.

I still prefer WD Caviar SE16 640GB. Inexpensive, yet packs a punch in terms of performance.

The e8400 (or even the e6850) are better gaming microprocessors and would save you a few £'s ...
