They almost have the same features though.

P31 only supports 4gb ram not 8

and overclocking features on the p31 arent as refined.

e6550/centrion5/Trio550/Adata/HD3850

the e6550 will reach the speed of the e6750 with stock cooler easily

I agree with the above suggestion. E6550 can easily overclock to at least 2.8Ghz. Add some good ram and a decent motherboard and you're guaranteed that speed. HD3850, 500W PSU, and a decent case.

zipzoomfly has some good deals. Tigerdirect has it's moments too... but I'm upset with them for placing my mouse on backorder AFTER I ordered it while it was in stock.

THere are others (TigerDirect, ZipZoomFly, etc.) but the thing about Newegg is just that they do what they do SO WELL. They may not have the best prices - but OTOH they have a lot of selection and customer service is GOLDEN (which is a BIG deal when you're dealing with technology and computer components).

Anandtech did a tour a while back of Newegg - it's pretty impressive how they run their operations:

1. That case comes with a flaky PSU. Since you are buying a decent PSU, why buy the Smilodon case that comes with the crappy PSU? Why not buy the identical smilodon case without the PSU and save a few dollars?

2. The Antec 900, which seems to get recommended a lot on this board, is on sale this week at newegg for $59 (if you know the promo code that is in their free weekly email flyer) or $79 (if you don't know the promo code). i am not sure if promo codes are user specific but you can have my promo code if you like (PM me), it is good until 12/24/07, at which time the newegg price goes back to $119 (MSR price is $139).

There are usually at least one or two quality items in each weekly flyer that are not only on sale but have nice promocode discounts beyond the sale price. If you are willing to buy a system a piece at a time every week the savings add up. the weekly flyer with the promo codes is free, just sign up.
