Hi experts. I've got an issue that just came up on my work setup running Windows 7. I'll try my best to post everything, I am not an expert at all.

When the issue initially started, the screen started flickering with white lines and eventually crashed. When I restarted my PC it gave me the PC fan error.

I started inspecting and noticed my PC was terribly dusty and one of the PC fan wires on my Cooler Master had come unplugged (so the fan was not turning.) So I thoroughly cleaned everything, removed the Cooler Master and applied new thermal paste to the heat sink after removing the old paste. I did the thermal paste because I've had the PC for a few years now and figured it was time. I put everything back together including the wire that was disconnected. I'm assuming I got the CPU fan seated correctly on the heat sink, but I probably wouldn't know.

Now all the fans are spinning (although the cooler master has a clicking sound) and the system is very clean with new thermal paste on the heat sink. It ran fine for a night, but now it's back to the same shenanigans. I turn on the PC to white lines, images attached. Windows will sometimes boot up still, but eventually freezes/crashes.

I am suspecting the graphics card is going out or the CPU Fan is going out or having issues. Below is the specs of my hardware.

GPU - GTX 560 Ti
CPU - Intel i7 x 990 @3.47 (12)
Memory - 8 GB
Resolution - 1920 x 1080
OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 641
Motherboard - ASUS Rampage III Extreme
BIOS - American Megatrends 1401

Here are the pictures and video to help you guys out. Let me know what you think.

Solution
Update your video drivers and use HWMonitor to check the temperatures on your cpu in case your Cooler Master is going out. If it isn't then my first assumption would be your video card is going out.

Thanks a lot for the response. I just checked my temperatures with HWMonitor and everything looks ok to me. It messed up again while updating drivers for my video card. I added the new image to the Dropbox link above.

Oh I hadn't noticed the pictures link before. Wow that's a lot of artifacts, though haha Do you by chance have a spare graphics card to test if your 560 is the cause? Not sure why your drivers aren't installing properly, make sure you use GeForce's manager to have the latest drivers. You might have to uninstall them manually and install them fresh.

Just finished installing the new drivers from GeForce. The problem is definitely still there. I did not uninstall any drivers before doing so.

I also do not have another video card to test unfortunately.

Well all I can think is that your video card died, hopefully nothing worse than that. You can buy this as a test to see if your graphics card is bad before you pay the full price of replacing it. I've run out of ideas though, sorry man 🙁

I may just run to the local store and pick one up. Any PCI card will fit right? While you're here, do you happen to know the model Cooler Master I have installed? It's in the video. When I took it off I didn't see a model number anywhere.

And I really appreciate your help a ton!

It's the V6 GT (very nice btw, I love CM). Any video card you find in a store should be a PCIe x16 so don't worry too much about getting one that doesn't fit. Good luck

Wow, I just looked up the V6 GT. I didn't realize how good it is. I bought this setup on Craigslist, obviously it was used as a gaming pc, but I actually use it for video work.

I just removed the 560 and moved it to another slot hoping it was the connection or motherboard since I move around a lot. But the problem is still here so that didn't work.

Going to pick up a new card as you suggested. Thanks again!

I just wanted to let the everyone know that I just swapped out the graphics card and that was the issue. My GTX 560 was bad and I replaced it with a GTX 950. Running a stress test now, and everything seems to be good to go. Thanks iNonEntity for all your help!
