My brother gave me his t410 to use for a while and the it started running slow so I installed a new OS but it's different from the one that came with the laptop. I've been trying to restore it to factory default since I didn't touch the recovery partition but I haven't been successful.

Anytime I try to access rescue and recovery through the blue button it doesn't work. I have tried downloading the toolbox but I can't find it online. All I see is that it's been discontinued.

Is there another way I can restore the system to it's factory image?

Thanks in advance

Need some more details about what "does not work" mean exactly. Does it start but fail? Finish but then does not start Windows? Never even starts? Need details and any messages that come up.

Even if you did not touch the recovery partition, the first partition also has information on it that the recovery needs, if you re-installed the OS on that and formatted the partition, the recovery may not work after that.

A laptop form that era, and especially the T410 model which used some Seagate drives that like to fail, may have a failing hard drive, which will cause Windows to run slowly and recovery to fail.
