[SOLVED] Need help with loose wire on motherboard

Hello everyone,

I’m currently in the process of repasting my cpu and gpu in my laptop. When I removed the heatsink and fans, I THINK a little wire separated from somewhere (please see attached photos). I say I think, because it is now freely dangling, not attached to anything. I have a MSI GE72VR 6RF Apache Pro laptop for reference. Any help identifying whether or not I need to attach it to something or place the wire against something on the motherboard would be greatly appreciated!

Any idea where the other end goes?

Regardless.....you don't want to leave it the way it is.

At least put some electrical tape on it so it doesn't cause problems.

if you can't find where it goes....I'd put tape on it and fire it up and see what happens.

That attaches to the WiFi card. In fact, directly below the connector you can see where it goes in your second pic, here is another image of it:

Perhaps it's some sort of antenna for the wifi?
