need help with memok light i have a asus p9x79 motherboard

i have a asus p9x79 motherboard. I had bought some vengence pro from corsair ram and found out the motherboard couldnt handle it for some reason. i bought ram the in the motherboard manual says is compatible well i plugged it in today and im still not getting a signal to my monitor and the light next to memok stays on even after testing it. I unplugged the ram and replugged it back in. the model of ram i got is corsair vengance cmz8gx3m2a1866c9. in the manual it says this ram is compatible. I have the ram plugged into the 2 black slots to the right of the cpu. is that the right slots or does it matter?
