So I bought this computer off of my cousin, and there is an problem that I don't know how to fix. The computer has a 64 bit processor, but for some reason has a 32 bit version of Widows. Is there any free way to upgrade my OS to 64 bit? I could really use the extra RAM. Also, if possible, is there a way to do it without wiping the HD clean?

If the computer your cousin purchased came with an OEM version of Windows (off the shelf computer or one he built himself), there is no free way to upgrade to a 64-bit OS. Regardless, there is no way to "upgrade" to a 64-bit OS. You will need to perform a clean installation.
