need help with restore

im trying to reset my acer 5610 laptop i have tried the alt f10 and the F8 i got this computer from my mother and it will not allow me to get in to the erecovery so now how do i reset this laptop its an acer aspire 5610 with windows vista as the origanal OS but like i said it will not aollow me to get anywhere please someone help before i throw this thing in the snow!!!!!!!!!!

There should be a windows key on the bottom of the laptop. Download a copy of windows of the internet and burn it to a disk. Then boot the os from the disk and you should be able to do a full reformat.

ok thank you i will try it and see if that works what i have on here now is ubuntu andi think thanks why its not letting me do anything

i have already tried all of that i have ubuntu on this laptop and nothing will work i just wantto reset this whole thing and get this junky OSoff my computer

If you put Ubuntu on, you may have erased the recovery section/option of the hard srive.
You ll need to follow Krishna's directions. this will give toy a clean install, but without any Acer programs.
