[SOLVED] Need help with some upgrades

I recently acquired a gateway dx4870-ur3d. Thought I would toss a evga 650w psu in it and a MSI Radeon RX 580 DirectX 12 RX 580 ARMOR 4G OC 4GB. Issue is I have been able to find very lil information on the pc so I’m not sure if this would work or if I would be wasting my time. Any help is appreciated.

Same here, the easiest thing to do is open up the computer, and see what kind of connectors the PSU has. If its standard 24 pin and 4/8pin CPU and is a standard ATX form factor http://www.evercase.co.uk/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=7 you should have no problem swapping the power supplies.

If it is a non standard size then you will have to either mod the case, or put the PSU on the outsode of the case (looks terrible but is safe as long as its secured to something). If the mobo uses non standard connectors then you can try and look around for converters, but personally I wouldn't trust them.

Yes it’s 24pin connection. So psu should be good. Now just gotta figure out the gpu situation.

Perhaps a MSI GTX 1050 TI 4GT OC would be a better choice

If you are upgrading the PSU theres no reason the RX580 wouldnt work. You could also look at a GTX 1650 Super which is comparable to the RX580 in most games, better in some slightly worse in others.
