Im upgrading my hdd to ssd, and im wondering will the samsung data migration tool remove the OS from the hdd in the process?, and also should i create system image before trying to migrate the files? I have the SSD plugged in already to SATA III but i have not done anything to it in disk management, should i format or activate it somehow before migrating? also im on Win7.
at the moment the migration shows that source drive is named to samsung 850pro ssd but it is my 1tb since it shows 931gb total size (it has 84gb current stuff) and TARGET is the ssd (120gb). aaaaaand one last thing that it shows both hdd and ssd in the migration screen as "C:"

(Computer was pre-built so i dont have the windows CD for install, thats why migration)

Solution
No it will not. i copies everything from the hdd to the ssd and therefore what you have on the hdd must be small enough to be copied over to begin with.

It is also highly recommended to do a fresh install but 1 program claims to be able to move just the OS. Its called Paragon's Migrate OS to SSD and it is not a free program though there are usually $5 off codes floating on the webs to make it $20...

Solution
Yea i have already moved much stuff to my 3tb drive, so my C: has only 84gb stuff, so its ready for full clone. Thanks for the answer, thats one problem solved, now to the other stuff. Should i do something to the disk in disk manager? Or leave it to straight out of box condition when migrating files?
