So I have a Lenovo think centre with I5 6400 and 8gb ram. I want to take that cpu ram and put it In new case with new pcu and Rx 570 8gb. But my question is the it worth I5 6400 is old cpu and lga1151 only supports 6 and 7 gen CPUs I did found a used z270 Mobo for 50e but what do you think and maybe it is better to go with am4 but idk

We know from this line that you have a Lenovo branded prebuilt from their Thinkcenter series but we're going to need to know the SKU and form factor to understand what motherboard you have and if a transplant is even worth while.

Your processor is locked so you won't gain any advantage on the processor's side but you would be able to overclock the ram which is moot in 2024 for that platform. If this was back when the processor was released then it would've made a little more sense. Apart from a ram overclock on the Z series chipset, your transplant would be a waste of money, honestly speaking and not with any sarcasm. The money would be best put forward into a new build.

You could do AM4, or 12th gen intel with a ddr4 board, reusing ram, and storage, for now, and upgrade as budget allows. Rebuilding your rig with that i5 6400 would be a waste of $.
