Yesterday, I changed the Resolution settings in one of my games. Suddenly, the screen goes black (blue in my monitor's case) and will not respond. So I though, no issue and restarted my computer. Gets all the way up to the Windows logo, loads that then immediately black screens. Now I'm getting worried. As such, I try this a few more times then load the system in safe mode. Completely fine, loads as normal but in safe mode. I look through a few articles of similar problems and eventually uninstall my drivers for the graphics card. I then restart and it loads without safe mode just without any drivers. The moment I update the drivers again and restart, it does the same thing again, stopping just after the windows logo.
I really don't understand what is going on. It doesn't seem like a hardware issue. The only trouble i can notice is the computer doesn't seem to recognise I have a screen input, either that or it doesn't recognise the graphics card even though it will let me download drivers for said graphics card.
Any information that could be helpful, please let me know. Most common things I have already done. I'm literally pulling my hair out as this is the only PC I have for Uni

if you go here, it sounds like a resolution issue, if you set it to 1024 x 768, if it boots into windows outside of safe mode, you can then set it to the resolution that fits your screen, obviously try it in small increments first until you hit the sweet spot.

Are you running windows 7?
Does the Windows logo seem to load successfully?
Don't properly shutdown you PC after a black screen. Turn off power suddenly. Then start your PC again. There will be a screen stage where you will see a message that Windows did not shutdown successfully or "Windows Error Recovery". Before that there will be a list of OS's Like "Windows 7" or "Windows 7 Recovered", etc. Then when that comes, press F8 Button under 30 Seconds. There will be many options. In one of them, there will be one listed as "Enable Low Resolution Video (640x480)". Press ENTER key on that and you're good to go.

To change the resolution in Windows 7, Right click on the desktop screen and go to "Screen Resolution". Select your recommended resolution.

To change the resolution in Windows XP, right click on desktop and click on "Settings Tab". Select your resolution from there.

I am not sure this method will work on Windows XP. I'm a Windows 7 User and have these problems day-to-day.

A little update here: How can anybody change the resolution of a PC when it has Blackscreen on start?

Most likely this won't work because safe mode loads basic window drivers only. This won't allow any Nvidia applications to run. I've had this problm more than 10-15 Times because my GTX 650TIB detects the refresh wrong and then it turns the whole screen black.

Either that or your Monitor is which needs to be checked. You have another PC or Laptop, Try connecting your monitor with it. Otherwise I just don't know what could fix the problem.

interesting, it works with CCC on my pc...

edit op you could use some registry cleaner to get rid off all of the driver remnants and manually delete the folder it installed to. The driver might be picking up some erranous settings from the leftovers (they like to keep the setings when uninstalling normally)

Solution Found. I just OC'd my PC and set it to AUTO mode and then it shows black screen but after 1 Minute It'll show up!
Try it. (Or leave it as it is with the black screen for a full day, who knows?)

BTW is it totally black or your monitor shows "NO SIGNAL" or your monitor gives out bright black light?
If it's giving light (Even if black) wait for a few minutes for it to turn it on.

UPDATE: Also try performing a "Clean Installation" with the graphic drivers (As for Nvidia, there is this option)...... It'll automatically remove all remaining settings you made. And for this you don't need to uninstall and reboot, you can simply run your nvidia driver setup program. (Or downloadinf Nvidia GeForce Experience in safe mode, then running it.)

And if nothing works, (Once Again) re-install Wndows on another HDD/Partation. When all else fails, this option works in 90% Success. And if screen is black even after a re-install of Windows, your GPU has a deffect.
