Hi.
Since I'm going to change my monitor I'd like to get a new one that fits my following needs:

Resolution: 1920x1080
Panel Type: IPS
Response time: 5-6 ms
Display size: 25"-26"-27"
Refresh rate: 60Hz.
Brand: Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, LG,...
Price: I don't have a specific budget. I'd prefer to spend more so I make sure I get a good one.

Some brands such as Acer/Asus sell monitors with this specs but the image quality/display size aren't as good as I need.

What am I going to do with it?
I need the best panel as possible in the resolution of 1920x1080 but respecting response times. I don't need it for gaming. Price is not an issue.

I hope you find the right monitor for me.
Thanks.

The monitor you said looks awesome, but it seems to be 16:10. What about if I plug it to a ps4: would it look blurry?

EDIT: It seems to be 1920x1200 so this is not my right monitor.
Thx anyways

I have no idea about how it would work with a PS4. I just realized my work monitors are U2415's. They're pretty beautiful, picture-wise.

edit, they're U2414H's and are 1080p. sorry about that. They're still really nice monitors.

  • Do some searching on computer websites such as www.Newegg.com.
  • You can narrow down your requirements and read the reviews of actual owners.
    • Keep in mind people are more likely to review a poor performing product than one that is working properly, but avoid any product that raises red flags.
  • Once you narrow down your selection to a few monitors, do a Google search on that monitor for professional reviews (don't forget to search on Tomshardware).
  • When you come to a final selection, use a search engine to find the best price. Just remember the cheapest websites aren't always the best option. I tend to stick with Amazon and Newegg.

The Dell UltraSharp U2414H is a good option, but only you know exactly what you want from a monitor and the price range. If you are okay with the specs on the Dell then you've narrowed down your selection considerably based upon one or two peoples' recommendation.

Personally I would want to weigh all the options from the Dell versus other monitors in that category, which is the 24" 1080p IPS monitor. There are a lot of monitors out there within this category and some are equally good.

That said, the Dell UltraSharp U2414H monitor is a great deal for the money. Not many monitors for $250 offer the function, fit, and finish the Dell monitor does. I don't think you could go wrong with this monitor, except if you decided to get into gaming down the road as this monitor has a pretty dismal 8ms response time.

Don't take offense but the only thing that cares about "dismal" 8ms response times are benchmarking tools. I'd recommend this monitor without reservation at all for any workload. It sounds like gaming isn't really the intended use anyways so i'm guessing color accuracy, brightness, and color gamut are more important. Without going to a professional series monitor, I think the Dells have historically been very good out of the box and can be calibrated pretty well.
