Need Ram advice for old 2007-2008 pc

I have a really old pc which is in need of a ram upgrade. Should I buy 3 more of the same 512mb Kingston ram stick that was was already included, or add a 4gb stick with a solo 512mb stick? Is 2gb enough for a 2007-2008 pc to run Linux ubuntu?

4GB would be the max you can use in that kind of old PC, you should get 2x2GB RAM (DDR2?), to run it in dual channel. Don't use the 512 stick with them, though.

go to crucial web page run there free memory advisor. it tell you the max ram of the pc and max ram speed and size for your older pc.
