Below is my rig I am probably building. The only thing that may change is getting a new 980ti if they are reasonably priced.

However. I am having trouble picking a new monitor.

I am not a power gamer. I don't play CS on my twitch channel showing off my 1337 skillZ. Just dated myself there.

But I do game. And my new hobby is learning 3dsmax and unreal engine.

I play all manner of games tho when I do play. Fps. Rpg. Rts. All of it.

I'd like a monitor in the $400 area that will let me game comfortably but also beautifully enjoy my 3d creations and other media.

Thanks much.

With the graphics horsepower you're looking at, you'd probably be happiest with a G-sync capable monitor, though all the ones I've seen so far are a little over $500 (and go WAY up from there). If you can't swing G-sync, I'd go with a 120-144 HZ display. It makes no sense (to me, anyway, to spend a lot of money on graphics your monitor can't display.

In any case, you're likely gonna end up with a TN panel and a maximum of 1440p (27").
