I was just wondering if anyone could give some recommendations for monitors with viewable area greater than 20.0 inches.

My only stipulation is that i do not want to pay more than 650 bucks and (if it is a really good monitor maybe 700).

I plan on gamming, watching dvds, school work, etc...

they usually have good deals on monitors.

I have bought two Sonys 19" from them.

my 2 rubles.

You are going to have a very hard time. You're basically asking for a >22" crt display. Most 22" have about the same viewable size as 21" (~20). Some say that mitsubishi 22" have about 20.3" viewable if stretched. These are $700-800, though.

The next step is 24" which will be twice your price range as well as scarce (retail models at least).

Quality is better than name brand, even regarding beloved AMD.

Well that being the case have you or anyone else any woking knowledge of of the P255f monitors from viewsonic.

Also they have three different versions of the same monitor which one is the best...P255, P255f-2, P255-3.

Check this link out. Apparently, it's a very good monitor and value. This review is older and monitor prices have since fallen to your range (see pricebrabber.com).

I've some viewsonics at work, though not the one you mentioned. The older 17" AG models are horribly out of focus. 19" optiquest monitors are just plain old tech (spherical tube!), though otherwise of average quality.

I have the dp2060u (also rated very high in the above link) and I am very pleased with it. Do a search for dp2060u in this forum, and you'll see my comments on it.
