That's a very powerful computer. It sure is future proof. It will max almost anything at 1080p and at least medium at 4K.
A good case is the NZXT 340. It very well built and under 100 dollars.
For cheap, good quality power supplies, I recommend Corsair. Buy a CS650M. It is 80+ Gold so it won't waste a lot of power and it's modular so you don't have to use all the cables, you plug in just those that you need. If in the future you plan to buy another GTX 970 to use it in SLI I recommend to buy a more powerful power supply, like the CS750M. It's always good to have a powerful power supply. You can use it for years and maybe you'll install a GTX 1080 in the future (when it comes out) and you'd still have power left.
I don't really know what type of motherboard to tell you to buy. Will you use more than 1 card, do you want a lot of USB ports, SATA ports? Please specify! A good motherboard that supports SLI and has a good number of USB and SATA ports is the Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5. It's around 100 dollars. Also it looks cool, painted in black and red.
About the variants of graphics cards. It's just the cooler, the memory and the overclock. EVGA, MSI and Gigabyte are very good. It just depends on which one is cheaper.
I'd recommend you to get 16GB of RAM. 8GB is the norm right now for gaming and if you want to be future proof, buy 16GB. You don't really have to but you have very powerful components and why not have a lot of RAM, for much an expensive build.
Also, you didn't specify what you're gonna buy for storage. I recommend buying a 128GB SSD to install you OS on and 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black for all the data like movies and music.
I'm not very good at displays so I can't really recommend you anything.
I appreciate the help. that was very thorough. what if i use thermaltake a31 atx midtower case? will it work?
i dont plan on using sli.i will use same pc for 5-6 years if i can.i read some threads on this site saying that crosair CS power supplies are not very good (something to do with temperature and burning i dont remember clearly)
like i said i dont know much about hardware and this is my first build.what do sata ports do? yes i do need 4-6 usb ports
about the variants of gpu. which one is best? i am going for zotac. is it good for prolonged use?
for now i will get 8 gb ram . do all mobos have 4 ram ports? if so then will i be able to use another 4gbx2 rams (same one as before) will it work? if it does then i plan on doing so in future not now.
do i really need a ssd? and i know i dont need a lot of space. i was thinking of 500gb hdd. will it work? or does it have something to do with speed (large space and ssd)
Thermaltake A31 seems like a pretty good case. It surely has enough space for your parts and for the air to flow.
If you don't want the Corsair PSU, because you think it may be bad, get a Fractal Design PSU. They are more expensive but also higher quality.
SATA ports are for connecting HDDs and SSDs.
If you want a lot of USB ports, go with the Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5. It has a lot of them, for around 100$. I heard it's a very good motherboard and I'm gonna get one too.
Yes, a Zotac GTX 970 is good. You can get almost any model of the GTX 970 and it will have a good cooler and performance because it's an expensive card and they can't risk putting a cheap cooler.
No, not all motherboard have 4 RAM ports. The Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 has 4 and supports up to 32GB of RAM. Yes, you can have 4x2 GB and add again 2 dimms of 4GB. I'd still recommend you to buy one 8GB stick, not 2x4GB. It uses less space and you'd have space for 3 more 8GB dimms, so you could have 32GB. Whereas with 2x4GB, you'd only be able to get 16GB max because you'd run out of slots.
You don't have to have an SSD but it helps a lot, if you install the OS on it. The computer will boot up a lot faster and programs installed on it, too. They are more expensive though. Go with the HDD if you want. I recommend a bigger one, at least 1TB if you want to use it for more than 3 years. Games are getting bigger. Some games are 50GB so you need space. 2TB would be the sweet spot.
