This is my first build. I dont know much about hardware. I will use this pc for gaming(new as well as old. new like watch dogs, Assassins creed unity,Black flag and old ones assassins creed 2,NFS hot pursuit etc.you will get the idea ).I have picked out processor, gpu and ram. will you recommend mobo, power supply, case and a monitor (moderate budget).
Cpu ; intel i5 4670k (i will use hyper 212 evo cooler)
Gpu ;ZOTAC GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI-E SLI Ready
Ram ; G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Also tell me that what is difference between this gpu variants of evga,gigabyte,inno3d and msi.which is better?
my total budget is roundabout 150000 PKR (1500 USD) .I live in Pakistan.
p.s is my pc future proof?

Solution
That's a very powerful computer. It sure is future proof. It will max almost anything at 1080p and at least medium at 4K.

A good case is the NZXT 340. It very well built and under 100 dollars.

For cheap, good quality power supplies, I recommend Corsair. Buy a CS650M. It is 80+ Gold so it won't waste a lot of power and it's modular so you don't have to use all the cables, you plug in just those that you need. If in the future you plan to buy another GTX 970 to use it in SLI I recommend to buy a more powerful power supply, like the CS750M. It's always good to have a powerful power supply. You can use it for years and maybe you'll install a GTX 1080 in the future (when it comes out) and you'd still have power left.

I don't really know what type of motherboard to tell you to buy. Will you use more than 1 card, do you want a lot of USB ports, SATA ports? Please specify! A good motherboard that supports SLI and has a good number of USB and SATA ports is the Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5. It's around 100 dollars. Also it looks cool, painted in black and red.

About the variants of graphics cards. It's just the cooler, the memory and the overclock. EVGA, MSI and Gigabyte are very good. It just depends on which one is cheaper.

I'd recommend you to get 16GB of RAM. 8GB is the norm right now for gaming and if you want to be future proof, buy 16GB. You don't really have to but you have very powerful components and why not have a lot of RAM, for much an expensive build.

Also, you didn't specify what you're gonna buy for storage. I recommend buying a 128GB SSD to install you OS on and 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black for all the data like movies and music.

I'm not very good at displays so I can't really recommend you anything.

I appreciate the help. that was very thorough. what if i use thermaltake a31 atx midtower case? will it work?
i dont plan on using sli.i will use same pc for 5-6 years if i can.i read some threads on this site saying that crosair CS power supplies are not very good (something to do with temperature and burning i dont remember clearly)

like i said i dont know much about hardware and this is my first build.what do sata ports do? yes i do need 4-6 usb ports

about the variants of gpu. which one is best? i am going for zotac. is it good for prolonged use?

for now i will get 8 gb ram . do all mobos have 4 ram ports? if so then will i be able to use another 4gbx2 rams (same one as before) will it work? if it does then i plan on doing so in future not now.

do i really need a ssd? and i know i dont need a lot of space. i was thinking of 500gb hdd. will it work? or does it have something to do with speed (large space and ssd)

Thermaltake A31 seems like a pretty good case. It surely has enough space for your parts and for the air to flow.

If you don't want the Corsair PSU, because you think it may be bad, get a Fractal Design PSU. They are more expensive but also higher quality.

SATA ports are for connecting HDDs and SSDs.

If you want a lot of USB ports, go with the Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5. It has a lot of them, for around 100$. I heard it's a very good motherboard and I'm gonna get one too.

Yes, a Zotac GTX 970 is good. You can get almost any model of the GTX 970 and it will have a good cooler and performance because it's an expensive card and they can't risk putting a cheap cooler.

No, not all motherboard have 4 RAM ports. The Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 has 4 and supports up to 32GB of RAM. Yes, you can have 4x2 GB and add again 2 dimms of 4GB. I'd still recommend you to buy one 8GB stick, not 2x4GB. It uses less space and you'd have space for 3 more 8GB dimms, so you could have 32GB. Whereas with 2x4GB, you'd only be able to get 16GB max because you'd run out of slots.

You don't have to have an SSD but it helps a lot, if you install the OS on it. The computer will boot up a lot faster and programs installed on it, too. They are more expensive though. Go with the HDD if you want. I recommend a bigger one, at least 1TB if you want to use it for more than 3 years. Games are getting bigger. Some games are 50GB so you need space. 2TB would be the sweet spot.

i dont know if crosair psu is bad. i am asking if it is bad?

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/302731-30-single-2x4gb
i just read this thread. it says 2x4gb is better. also i dont think i will need 16 gb ram bcoz i dont mod, video editing, streaming etc. if i need one in future then i will buy new one .

i will not buy an ssd bcoz i dont think they are available in my area.i will go with 1 tb hdd . it may sound odd but i only play one game at at time.so 50gb will not be very much of a problem.
again thanks for help really appreciate it
(i do nag a lot 😀)

I too have seen people saying that Corsair PSUs are bad quality. I've done some research and found that their RM series has bad capacitors. I have a CX600 in my setup at the moment and it works just fine so the other series don't have any problem. A nice thing that the RM and more expensive model have, is the feature to turn off the fan on the PSU when it's not on heavy load so it makes less noise. If you want that, you can get a HX or AX series from Corsair that are even better rated than the RM series and for whom people don't say they're bad.

i just checked the price of mobo gigabyte z97x gaming 5. its pretty expensive(33000 pkr almost 330 usd) can you recommend a cheaper one?

Corsair's lower end lines eg. CX, VS, and RM do have lower quality capacitors which could lead to a reduced lifespan. Their higher end products e.g the TX, HX, and AX lines are actually quite good.

Try MSI Z97 Gaming 3 or 5, or Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 3. I take the prices from Amazon and I find them around $150 max.

Yeah, you're right. It's pretty logical that the models cheaper than the RM series have bad capacitors. I haven't had any problems with mine. For me if the power supply breaks down without damaging other components, it's ok. It's not a very expensive part.

so if psu breaks down it damages other parts. what causes this breakdown? how do i know that what components are damaged?

and i just came across the term "bottlenecking".i know what it means but i want to ask that does my build have bottleneck in it or can all parts keep up with each other

Your build has no bottleneck - its well balanced .
Regarding psu's ,the corsairs are decent IMO.
They're mid range & use cheaper capacitors on the secondary power phase (around 80% of all psu's on the market are guilty of this & worse)
Too much made of this on the forums IMO,they're a solid budget choice - sometimes the only choice depending on your location.

Your build doesn't need anything bigger than 500w - this fact might put a seasonic psu in your budget if they're available in your area.

Hello again,
ASUS Z87 boards, and the Gigabyte Z97 Gaming motherboards. With that budget, you should be able to go with something like a Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 7, which is great at overclocking and has room for future upgrades like SLI and more PCIE slots.
An EVGA 500 watt 80 plus power supply will be plenty enough for this system. They are pretty affordable so maybe a 700 watt 80 plus EVGA power supply will be more than enough for future SLI.
The case is up to you. What ever you like more. The Corsair 450D is pretty decent. NZXT N440 is also great. Fractal Design Define R4/R5 is one of my favorite cases for build quality and simple design.

A: It's pretty future proof. However, you should get a Xeon or i7 because games are starting to utilize more than 4 cores/threads, processors with hyperthreading/more cores will benefit.

how much power my pc actually needs? if i add more fans on case how much power do they need?
and no one said anything on monitor

a decent 500w will power your system easily without any stess at all.
case fans use next to nothing mate, there are no worries there.
the 4670k & gtx 970 along with the motherboard are only going to pull 350w absolute maximum fully stressed to 100%- with a 500w you have headroom aplenty

thats really expensive here.like really out of my budget.can you recommend me a cheap but good 16:9 ,1920x1080 , lcd/led monitor.
the thing is that our country has huge taxes on electronics so it makes it impossible to buy good products

the one you told about is pretty good and in my budget. does it have any issues or complaints?
it has 75hz refresh rate (i think so). is it good? what is relation of fps and refresh rate.
thank you very much
